Valley Business Network is a category-exclusive networking group that meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month. VBN members represent a variety of industries and professions. The group's objective is to be a forum for relationship building with the goal of helping members to grow their networks. Additionally, VBN helps members become more informed business people, by sharing their expertise and learning from educational presentations provided by members and guest speakers.

This month's featured speaker will be Ellen Reichelt, TOP Martial Arts & Fitness for Life.

The Women In Networking (WIN) Council was formed as a way to share hurdles unique to women in business by providing a warm, friendly atmosphere that is supportive, educational & dynamic. Members are a mix of female entrepreneurs, business owners, and key players in B2B services.

In addition, WIN developed an Entrepreneurial Grant Program for Women In Business in the six Valley communities served by the Greater Valley Chamber. The WIN members host "Headshots at SchmoozaPalooza" and "WINGO" as fundraisers to support this grant and their fund with the Valley Community Foundation. Since the Grant was created $49,950 has been distributed to 54 women-owned businesses in the #ValleyCT. They also have a named fund through the Valley Community Foundation.

They meet the 2^nd Tuesday of each month -- Coffee & Networking 8:00 am - 8:15 am; Meeting starts at 8:15 am. Those looking succeed, achieve & prosper through sharing individual knowledge, skills and resources are welcome.

Greater Valley Chamber Membership is required to belong to the group. Area women in business are welcome to attend one meeting as a guest prior to joining. For more information contact the Chamber today.

Seeds to Leads is a category exclusive networking group. Their group goals are to build trusting personal and professional relationships that lead to professional referrals and business success. S2L members hold one another accountable for the services they offer and the professional handling of their cross referrals so they all may continue to grow and prosper. Guest speakers visit to educate them on issues relevant to the times. They meet the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of each month.

Comprised of individuals and companies in the Healthcare Industry including medical, insurance and care services, the Healthcare Council is a committee of the Greater Valley Chamber with a purpose to educate members, the business community, consumers, and government representatives on ways to reduce employee absenteeism costs, increase worker productivity and reduce overall healthcare costs.

Anyone interested in learning more about the monthly topic is welcome to attend our meetings held the third Friday each month starting at 8:15 am.

Any business activity or for that matter any activity is subject to some risk(s), whether it is getting up in the morning, driving to work, or attempting to manufacture an item, manage a process and people! Many use the term risk, but what is a risk? How do we determine what the risks are for an activity? What to do about that risks we just identified? Do we track the risks that we identify? All these questions will be presented during this conversation/ presentation.

About your presenter: Ernest “Ernie” brings more than 25 years of experience to his clients, having provided environmental, health and safety services to multiple levels of leadership within a fortune fifty company. He began his career as a manager of safety for a local manufacturer focusing on material handling and regulatory compliance. For fourteen of his twenty-five years Ernie had a great opportunity working for a large warehouse style retailer as a Corporate Risk Control Manager where he obtained most of his experience. With the help of his team they established a nationally recognized safety department that employed over 100 safety professionals responsible for twenty five hundred locations and four hundred thousand employees. He was instrumental in developing and implementing core programs that had sustainable impact on the organization.

With a decision to start a family, Ernie decided to move his career locally and was employed as the Director of Environmental Health Safety and Risk Management for a major manufacturing operation in Wallingford CT and client of PMA Insurance Group. His accomplishments were highly noted due to his focus on lean manufacturing, development of loss reduction strategies and specialized environmental control processes. His performance and relationship with PMA has developed into a welcomed position with PMA Management Corp. of New England.

Ernie attended Waterbury State Technical and earned a degree in Fire Technology and Administration. He also attended OSHA Training Institute in partnership with Keene State College where he completed a four year program to receive a BS and his Certified Safety and Health Official in both Construction and General Industry. He is a member of The American Society of Safety Engineers, National Safety Council, and currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Safety Society. He is an OSHA credentialed Outreach Trainer for general industry and construction; a National Safety Counsel certified trainer for Fleet Safety. He spends his time volunteering with Wallingford Cardinals Baseball Club (AAU/ American Legion) where he is the Safety Director for the league and a Commissioner.
