Valley Business Network is a category-exclusive networking group that meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month. VBN members represent a variety of industries and professions. The group's objective is to be a forum for relationship building with the goal of helping members to grow their networks. Additionally, VBN helps members become more informed business people, by sharing their expertise and learning from educational presentations provided by members and guest speakers.

This months topic: Happy Hour Roundtable Discussion on Industry Trends.

The TIED Council (TIED is an acronym for Technology, Innovation, Education and Development) was developed to serve as resource of trusted advisors to increase all chamber members technology knowledge, helping them to understand how technology can enhance their business and to give Valley technology leaders a forum for collaboration and innovation and to bring awareness to local technology resource s providing support, answers, education, development, and information in the technology field(s) to our chamber members.

Comprised of individuals and companies within and without the technology industry including but not limited to; Cyber Security, Computer networking, Computer productivity, data usage, internet presence, social media, software training, and data analytics. The TIED Council coordinates ongoing informative seminars on technology issues affecting area businesses. The council meets on the first Thursday of each month at 8:00 AM (with exception of holidays when the meeting will be scheduled to a later date in the month). Membership in the Greater Valley Chamber is required for membership in the group; however, anyone is welcome to come to any meeting to learn more.

Close your eyes and imagine a warm summer’s day in August. You’re at one of the nicest golf courses in the state, about to tee off. Shorts, polo shirts and great company….warmer temperatures are finally here and so is the Greater Valley Chamber’s 24th Annual Golf Classic!

Whether entertaining clients, building business relationships with potential customers/vendors, rewarding exemplary employees with time out of the office or generating positive community relations for your organization, you will enjoy a day of camaraderie and sport while supporting the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce. Fore, where there is golf, there is business.

The format is a four-person scramble, and awards are given to the top teams, the longest drive (men & ladies), closest to the pin (men & ladies), closest to the line (men & ladies), and more. Registration includes 18-holes of golf, cart, breakfast, lunch, and beverages on the course.

Back by popular demand is our 9:00 am Shotgun start with check-in starting at 8:00 am so you can be home in time to enjoy your evening with family and friends.

As you know we are working hard to provide not only a fun day out on the course, but a safe experience as well. With that, we have developed a new Power Play 50/50 Pack. These will only be available online until Thursday, August 6th in advance of game day. Be sure to include it with your registration.

Get in early for premium sponsorship exposure. Sponsorships are available ranging from $200 - $2000. Contact Nancie or Laura for complete information on sponsorship opportunities.

Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. Spaces are limited. Tournament is played rain or shine, but may be cancelled in extreme weather conditions at the discretion of the course. Registration is good for the tournament date requested and confirmed only. Fee is non-refundable. Entries with less than 4 (four) players will be paired by the tournament committee. Please note: The Chamber & the Course are following the State of Connecticut ReOpen Guidelines/Protocols.

Funds raised by this event are used to further the Chamber's mission of creating a strong local economy, promoting the Greater Valley region, advocating on behalf of local businesses, and connecting area business people.

August Presentation & Speaker:

Ms. Joy DeMarchis is an enthusiastic Diversity Trainer who will lead participants to reflect upon the importance of Diversity in their workplaces and its impact on their daily lives. Delving into topics that include Racism, the Women’s Suffrage Movement and perceptions of Women Business Owners as a Minority in our culture will be discussed. This interactive session will shed light into the importance of women taking a leadership role to establish new networking models for professional women. WIN members and guests will take away how they can be a role model for future generations of female leaders and Stand for Justice, Share their Voices, Changing the Role Diversity plays in the workplace for future generations of Female Leaders.

The Women In Networking (WIN) Council was formed as a way to share hurdles unique to women in business by providing a warm, friendly atmosphere that is supportive, educational & dynamic. Members are a mix of female entrepreneurs, business owners, and key players in B2B services.

In addition, WIN developed an Entrepreneurial Grant Program for Women In Business in the six Valley communities served by the Greater Valley Chamber. The WIN members host "Headshots at SchmoozaPalooza" and "WINGO" as fundraisers to support this grant and their fund with the Valley Community Foundation. Since the Grant was created $49,950 has been distributed to 54 women-owned businesses in the #ValleyCT. They also have a named fund through the Valley Community Foundation.

They meet the 2^nd Tuesday of each month -- Coffee & Networking 8:00 am - 8:15 am; Meeting starts at 8:15 am. Those looking succeed, achieve & prosper through sharing individual knowledge, skills and resources are welcome.

As the restrictions are starting to loosen up, companies want to start focusing on getting back to business as normal. But, what is normal after the current pandemic crisis?

Leaders in any organization are expected to know the answer to that perplexing question. They are also supposed to have the tools and/or experience to deal with it.

Sadly, the idea that leaders currently have the tools is typically without merit. This is a one-of-a-kind pandemic crisis which will cause new and unanticipated employee situations in the future.

Comprised of individuals and companies in the Healthcare Industry including medical, insurance and care services, the Healthcare Council is a committee of the Greater Valley Chamber with a purpose to educate members, the business community, consumers, and government representatives on ways to reduce employee absenteeism costs, increase worker productivity and reduce overall healthcare costs.

Anyone interested in learning more about the monthly topic is welcome to attend our meetings held the third Friday each month starting at 8:15 am.
