Valley Business Network is a category-exclusive networking group that meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month. VBN members represent a variety of industries and professions. The group's objective is to be a forum for relationship building with the goal of helping members to grow their networks. Additionally, VBN helps members become more informed business people, by sharing their expertise and learning from educational presentations provided by members and guest speakers.

Please note: Greater Valley Chamber membership is required. VBN membership is by application and acceptance of the Advisory Board. There is a separate yearly membership fee due upon acceptance.

This month's meeting topic is: to be announced.

The TIED Council was developed to serve as resource of trusted advisors. It is a way to help bring an understanding of how technology can enhance business - and that is not as scary as it may seem. It is a forum for collaboration and innovation for Valley technology leaders as well as a way to bring awareness to local resources providing support, answers, education, development, and information in the technology fields. (TIED is an acronym for Technology, Innovation, Education and Development). The TIED Council coordinates regular informative seminars on technology issues affecting area businesses.

Compromised of individuals and companies including but not limited to; Cyber Security, Computer networking, Computer productivity, data usage, internet presence, social media, software training, data analytics and those not in the industry but interested in learning.

The council meets on the first Thursday of each month at 8:00 AM (with exception of holidays when the meeting will be scheduled to a later date in the month). Membership in the Greater Valley Chamber is required for membership in the group; however, anyone is welcome to come to any meeting to learn more.

This month's meeting topic is: Presenter - Beth Schulkind, Your Home Again -- Declutter Your Life.

A little bit about our presenter: Beth has been a move manager for 40 years helping friends and family through the process of moving. She began an Interior Design business in 2000. Her, Your Home, Again, business was established in 2012. Beth believes your home should be a refuge that comforts and supports you. Your Home Again is a combination of services that support this theory: interior design, organization and move management. She works with clients of all ages specializing in helping older adults move from long-time homes into their next stage of life. Also, with clients to declutter their current home. Beth enjoys this journey with her clients bringing a sympathetic ear, caring heart, sense of humor and many resources to each job. She works to make the transition as smooth as possible whether staying put and clearing out or changing homes.

The Women In Networking (WIN) Council was formed as a way to share hurdles unique to women in business by providing a warm, friendly atmosphere that is supportive, educational & dynamic. Members are a mix of female entrepreneurs, business owners, and key players in B2B services.

In addition, WIN developed an Entrepreneurial Grant Program for Women In Business in the six Valley communities served by the Greater Valley Chamber. The WIN members host "Headshots at SchmoozaPalooza" and "WINGO" as fundraisers to support this grant and their fund with the Valley Community Foundation. Since the Grant was created over $58,000 has been distributed to 63 women-owned businesses in the #ValleyCT. They also have a named fund through the Valley Community Foundation.

Greater Valley Chamber Membership is required to belong to the group. Area women in business are welcome to attend one meeting as a guest prior to joining. For more information contact the Chamber today.

Seeds to Leads is a category exclusive networking group. Their group goals are to build trusting personal and professional relationships that lead to professional referrals and business success. S2L members hold one another accountable for the services they offer and the professional handling of their cross referrals so they all may continue to grow and prosper. Joe Eyer, VP of public affairs for AT&T, and Kelly Memphis, senior manager of government relations and stakeholder engagement practice for the Public Affairs Council, will provide insight, resources, and tools for effectively engaging with legislators and the importance of grassroots advocacy.

And CBIA’s Eric Gjede will update you on the latest from the 2021 General Assembly session, including the status of key legislative proposals.
