In most cases, you can either change the behavior or find a workaround. This session will introduce you to some solutions for your frustrations, with a focus on MS Word.

The TIED Council was developed to serve as resource of trusted advisors. It is a way to help bring an understanding of how technology can enhance business - and that is not as scary as it may seem. It is a forum for collaboration and innovation for Valley technology leaders as well as a way to bring awareness to local resources providing support, answers, education, development, and information in the technology fields. (TIED is an acronym for Technology, Innovation, Education and Development). The TIED Council coordinates regular informative seminars on technology issues affecting area businesses.

Compromised of individuals and companies including but not limited to; Cyber Security, Computer networking, Computer productivity, data usage, internet presence, social media, software training, data analytics and those not in the industry but interested in learning.

The council meets on the first Thursday of each month at 8:15 AM. Membership in the Greater Valley Chamber is required for membership in the group; however, anyone is welcome to come to any meeting to learn more about the group or about the topic of the month.

Lights, camera, pitch! Our theme this month is 'PowHERful Pitches: 5 Minutes to Shine'. Join us for a lineup that'll leave you buzzing: several rising stars of SCSU's Women in Leadership Academy, the experienced Margaret Moorer from Corporate Mailing Services, and a success story, Melanie Miranda of Apex Radon (and 2024 Grant Recipient!). It's going to be a powerhouse meeting.

This group is mostly meeting in-person and offers a link to join the meeting virtually if you prefer for those meetings. There are a few meetings during the year when they will meet offsite from the Chamber office and those will be in-person only.

The Women In Networking (WIN) Council was formed as a way to share hurdles unique to women in business by providing a warm, friendly atmosphere that is supportive, educational & dynamic. Members are a mix of female entrepreneurs, business owners, and key players in B2B services. They meet the 2nd Tuesday of each month -- Coffee & Networking prior to the start of the meeting. Those looking succeed, achieve & prosper through sharing individual knowledge, skills and resources are welcome.

In addition, WIN developed an Entrepreneurial Grant Program for Women In Business in the six Valley communities served by the Greater Valley Chamber. a variety of fundraisers to support this grant and their fund with the Valley Community Foundation. Since the Grant was created over $78,000 has been distributed to 86 women-owned businesses in our #ValleyCT. They also have a named fund through the Valley Community Foundation.

Topic: Workplace Violence - What to do during & after an incident

Each year, nearly 2 million American workers are victims of workplace violence. These incidents can range from verbal abuse from a co-worker or customer to physical assaults and homicides. The risk of violence in the workplace is not exclusive to any industry, job classification or geographic location. According to FBI estimates 40% of all active shooter events took place in business settings: commercial office buildings, stores, factories and warehouses. Still many businesses have outdated or no plan at all. Workplace Violence is a risk every business faces and an exposure for which many are unprepared. It has become necessary to do more than implement safety protocols; employees need to learn how to react safely when faced with a violent situation.

Lt.Robert Kozlowsky, Shelton Police Department, and Mike Maglione, Shelton Emergency Management:The steps your team needs to take if there is a active shooter or other workplace violence incident taking place.
